Science Department
6th grade Earth Science
This class will introduce students to the scientific method and will provide opportunities for them to apply it as they study the Earth’s structure and Plate Tectonics, the Shaping of Earth’s Surface, Energy in the Earth System, and Ecology. Higher level thinking will be emphasized and real world themes will be explored from a Christian perspective. Students will become aware of the awe-inspiring world God has created.
7th grade Life Science
This class will introduce students to the scientific method and will provide opportunities for them to apply it as they study creation, cell structure and functions, animal diversity, the human body systems, plants, and the ecosystems. Higher level thinking will be emphasized and real world themes will be explored from a Christian perspective.
8th grade Physical Science
This class has students acknowledge that there are laws and principles that govern the universe, and that these laws and principles are logical, sequential, and are an orderly approach to the function of matter as designed by God, the Creator. Students will review the scientists who develop the law and principles and their conclusion of intelligent design. Students will become familiar with the scientific method, chemistry, physics, and astronomy. Students will also be given an opportunity to design a science project to investigate, compile data, and conclude as a means of establishing reasonable evidence for these functioning modes. Included in the course will be laboratory investigations and documentation of findings.
